It’s Spain’s hottest city and easy to reach. Seville is an ideal day trip excursion. Seville encapsulates true Spanishness with its flamenco dancers, fine Moorish architecture and excellent tapas bars. Visit the gorgeous Reales Alcazares, the elaborate medieval Christian-Moorish styled Royal Palace and gardens and then move on to the Cathedral which is the largest in the world.
In the evening enjoy Seville’s vibrant party atmosphere and pulsating flamenco. Impromptu performances are often to be found in the bars around Triana and Macarena in the early hours. The city is also the birthplace of tapas and one of Spain’s great experiences is to tour the tapas bars and take a visit to Seville’s oldest tapas bar dating back to the 1670’s - the Bar Rinconcillo. Also work your way down the white washed Barrio Santa Cruz for more tapas.
Experience a musical tour of Seville each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 18.00 and meet Carmen (one of Opera’s most famous characters) at the corner of Calle Santo Thomas and Calle Miguel Manara (next to the Alcazar).
When planning your visit take account of the Opera season in Seville - for example see http://www.jmb-travel.co.uk/allevents.asp?city_ref=25 and don't forget Seville’s hedonistic April festival and Semana Santa celebrations.
